Farm Fresh & Friendly

Anne Marie's Farm Stand is located on North Country Road in Setauket, if you know where that is. Actually, North Country Road is a continuation of Main Street, Setauket, south of Ridgeway. It's fun to go to Anne Marie's since she has nice looking fruits and vegetables. She claims they are organic, but who knows. Most items do not possess the "grown organically" label. The best item at Anne Marie's is the sundried tomatoes, which is one of the items claimed organic with no label. In any case, they are plump and you can bite into them without hurting your teeth. Great with a piece of the Italian bread that she sells, the famous Rocky Point Italian Bread. This bread is great tasting and has a crisp bottom. The problem is that you can easily eat the whole loaf. You can also get broccoli rabe here for a decent price. Anne Marie is pretty friendly and it's nice to shop in a place where the owner actually knows you and talks to you. You always feel good when you go there, so go there!

Anne-Marie's is a wonderful place, with lots of great deals. But just to clarify a confusing point, the owner's name is Mary Ann. The farm stand is named for her 11-year old daughter.

Anne-Marie's is the best spot around for sweet corn, and Mary Ann will never let you pay for anything if it doesn't meet her high standards (though she will let you keep it for free).

Also she will tell you which of the produce is organic and/or local and which is not.

The farm stand was originally located on old town road, next to the local high school. The place is a mess. Behind that wooden fence is dozens of stray cats that they feed, and the cats inbreed and are born with deformaties and most don't make it through the first winter. Their peacocks are killed by cars since they don't keep them contained, and all the rest of the living situations of the animals are not up to par with animal cruelty standards. Aside from that Mary Ann's husband, I believe joe or something like that is a drunk, and I've heard there are drugs on the residence located in front of the farmstand. So if they're getting credibility because they were a family run business I'd ask you to reconsider.
